What Is a One Hitter?

A one hitter is a small pipe that holds just enough flower for a single pull. You’ll also hear it called a bat, a taster or a one hitter pipe. It’s discreet, easy on your stash, and perfect when you want a quick hit without packing a whole bowl.

What Is a Dugout?

A dugout is a small box with two compartments. One holds your ground flower and the other holds your one hitter. To pack it, you push the one hitter down into the flower, or “dig it out,” which is where the name comes from. Your weed and your pipe stay together in one box that fits in your pocket.

How to Use a Dugout and One Hitter

Grind your flower and fill the weed side of the dugout. Twist or slide the lid so the opening lines up with the flower, then push the one hitter down into it and give it a twist to pack the tip. Light it, take your hit, and tap the ash out. If you’re using a glass taster on its own, just dip the end into your ground flower and you’re good to go.

How to Clean a One Hitter

One hitters clog fast because they’re so small. Soak yours in isopropyl alcohol for a few minutes, run a pipe cleaner or a straightened paper clip through it, and rinse it. Metal bats can take a good scrub, and glass ones come out looking new. A bong cleaner works great for a bunch of bats at once.
