A reclaim catcher sits between your dab rig and your banger and catches the oil that builds up after every dab. You’ll also hear it called a dab reclaimer, reclaim collector or resin catcher. Without one, that sticky reclaim runs down into your rig and coats the glass. With one, it drips into a small dish that you pull off, empty and put back on.
Every reclaim catcher here is made by Gear Premium, the same brand behind our Gear Premium dab rigs. They come in 14mm and 19mm, male and female, with 45 and 90 degree joints, so they’ll fit almost any dab rig you own.
Vapour leaves your banger and passes through the reclaimer before it hits the water. As it cools, oil condenses on the glass and runs down into the removable dish at the bottom. The vapour keeps going into your rig like normal, so the hit feels the same, but your rig stays clean a lot longer between soaks.
Pair one with a quartz banger and you’ve got what a lot of people call a reclaim banger setup. Any rig with a 14mm or 19mm joint can be turned into a dab rig with a reclaim catcher.
Most dab rigs use a 14mm joint, while bigger rigs and bongs usually run 19mm. You’ll sometimes see 19mm listed as 18mm, but it’s the same size. If your rig has a 10mm joint, a bong adapter can step it up to 14mm so a reclaimer fits.
Joints always connect opposite to opposite. A male piece goes into a female joint, and a female piece slides over a male joint. Check the joint on your rig first, then check your banger, because the reclaimer has to fit both. Each listing spells out what is on each end.
Match the reclaimer’s angle to the angle of your rig’s joint. A 45 degree reclaim catcher goes on a 45 degree joint, and a 90 degree reclaim catcher goes on a 90 degree joint. Get it right and the dish hangs straight down, which it needs to do for the oil to drip in properly.
Once the reclaimer is on, your banger plugs into the reclaimer, not the rig. Make sure your banger fits that joint and sits with the bucket level. If it doesn’t, the oil pools in the wrong spot and you lose heat.
The concentrate reclaimer dish fits both 14mm and 19mm Gear Premium reclaimers. A spare is handy: swap it in while the full one soaks and you can keep dabbing.
A reclaim catcher works on a bong too. That only applies if you’re using the bong with a banger for concentrates, and the joint size, gender and angle line up. Check your bong’s joint the same way you would a rig. If you’re smoking flower, you want an ash catcher instead, because a reclaim catcher is built for oil, not ash.
Pull the dish off when it starts to fill up. Some people save what they collect and some toss it. Either way, it ends up in a dish you can clean in a couple of minutes, not stuck inside your rig. To clean the reclaimer itself, soak it in isopropyl alcohol with a bit of coarse salt, give it a shake, and rinse it with warm water. A good bong cleaner makes it even easier.
A reclaimer is one piece of a clean setup. Top your banger with a carb cap, drop in some terp pearls, and keep a dab tool and a dab torch close by. If you’d rather skip the torch altogether, take a look at our enail kits. You’ll find everything else in our dab rig parts collection.
Not sure which reclaimer fits your rig? Send us a message with a photo of your joint and we’ll point you to the right one. Every order ships discreetly from our Vancouver warehouse.
