What a Carb Cap Does
A carb cap sits on top of your banger while you dab. By limiting how much air gets in, it holds the heat inside, so your concentrate turns to vapour at a lower temperature. That means better flavour, smoother hits and less concentrate left behind in the banger. If you’re dabbing without one, a carb cap is the cheapest upgrade you can make to your rig. Types of Carb Caps
Bubble Carb Caps
A bubble cap is a small glass dome with one airflow hole. It covers the whole top of the banger, which makes it simple to use and easy to clean. Bubble caps come in different diameters, so you can match one to your banger.
Spinner and Whirlpool Carb Caps
Spinner caps send air into the banger at an angle, creating a vortex that spins your terp pearls and swirls the oil around. The result is even heating and a really efficient dab.
Directional and Channel Caps
Directional caps let you aim the airflow right at your concentrate and push the puddle around the banger as you pull. Smaller channel caps sit inside the banger, and many double as a dab tool.
Quartz Carb Caps and Dabber Combos
Quartz carb caps handle heat well and pair nicely with a quartz banger. Carb cap and dabber combos give you a cap on one end and a dab tool on the other, so there’s one less thing to keep track of.
Terp Slurper Cap Sets
Terp slurper bangers need their own caps. These sets usually come with matching beads or pearls designed to work with the slurper’s airflow.
How to Choose a Carb Cap
Start with your banger. The cap has to be wider than the banger’s opening to sit on top, but not so wide that it slides around. A standard flat-top banger works with most bubble, spinner and directional caps, while a terp slurper needs a slurper-specific set.
Glass caps are the most common and the most affordable. Quartz caps cost a bit more but are made to handle heat.
How to Use a Carb Cap
Heat your banger, let it cool for a moment, then drop your dab in. Place the carb cap on top right away and start pulling slowly. With a directional or spinner cap, turn it gently as you inhale to move the oil around the banger. Lift the cap at the end to clear the last of the vapour.
