What Is a Shatter Pen?

A shatter pen is a small, battery-powered vaporizer made for concentrates like shatter, wax, budder and rosin. Load a dab onto the coil, press the button, and the pen heats it into vapour. There’s no torch, no rig and no setup, so it’s the easiest way to dab on the go.

They’re the same thing. Shatter pen, dab pen and wax pen are all names for a pen-style vaporizer built for concentrates. Whatever you call it, if it’s made for wax and shatter, it’ll do the job.

How to Use a Shatter Pen

Charge your pen and take off the mouthpiece. Use a dab tool to place a small amount of shatter right on the coil. Put the mouthpiece back on, hold the button and inhale slowly. Start with small dabs, since overloading the coil leads to harsh hits and wasted concentrate. If your pen has heat settings, lower temps give more flavour and higher temps give bigger clouds.

Shatter Pen or Oil Pen?

Shatter pens are for loose concentrates. If you’re vaping pre-filled oil carts, you want a 510 thread battery instead. Some kits, like the Pulsar 510 Delta 3 in 1, handle carts, concentrates and dry herb in one.

What’s the Best Shatter Pen?

How to Clean Your Shatter Pen

After a session, fire the coil for a second to burn off leftover residue, then let it cool. Wipe the mouthpiece and chamber with a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol.
